We are about to have our first drop-in in the Old Schoolhouse on Monday 6th June. We will be offering tea, coffee and a free bag of toiletries and of course a very warm welcome. As well as SHARe volunteers, the drop-in will be staffed by Nicola from SHAP and Matthew from the Red Cross.

On Friday, 26th February, two vans loaded with donations headed for The Jungle refugee camp in Calais. Bryan drove one of the vans and this is his account of the trip. “For the past few weeks, the people of Huyton have been collecting food and clothing for refugees in The Jungle at Calais. These have been collected, stored and sorted at St. Agnes Church. The food was sorted in trays of each food type; peas, tomatoes, coffee etc. and the clothing into boxes according to type and size. Calais Appeal

We are hoping to take donated food and other much needed items to the refugee camps in Calais and Dunkirk at the end of February. If you wish to donate, the list below gives you ideas of things that we will be taking Sleeping bags, roll up mats, wind up torches Men’s clothing including jeans or joggers (waist sizes 28 – 34) , underwear, socks, hats, gloves and scarves, warm fleeces or hooded tops, T shirts, waterproof and wind-proof jackets and men’s trainers or boots sizes 5- 11.
